New Wine

Matt 9:17, Mark 2:22

In the time of old, wine was stored in wineskins  an ancient type of bottle made of leathered animal skin.

While the juice from grapes was becoming wine as a result of fermentation, it would make the wineskin swell and stretch. If the wineskins were old, they would burst because they have reached their stretching limit.

Jesus in Matt 9:17 (NLT) said, No one puts new wine into old skins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so both are preserved.

In like manner, you try most times in life to fit the things you are so comfortable with into new scenarios you find yourself in.

These comfortable things could be good as well but they don't just fit into the now and the only way it would profit you, is if you actually let them go. Put them where they belong because if you actually force them into your new scenario, what you would get are consequences. Consequences that lead to regrets, sorrowful nights, guilt and shame.

There is peace of mind in putting things where they really should be.

By this time yesterday, I had a lot of wonderful spirit-filled songs I have downloaded over time on my device but when I turned to it for my listening pleasure today, I saw they were all gone.

I was unhappy at first and grumbled but then a thought came to me that, What if it was time to get new songs. Songs for the now and as I pondered on it, I realised I knew all the songs lost by heart already and it was actually time for new songs.

For me, this experience was New Wine. A new season of my life is being birthed and I need new songs for this new season and it was really worth it after listening to the new songs I downloaded — Some of the new songs I got are, Creator King by Don Moen and Surrounds Me by Hillsong and I pray they bless you too.

If you're reading this, I know you may have had situations where you wanted something to just fit, to just go your way but it didn't and if you are yet to experience such, I assure you, you would. Prepare for it, pray by the Spirit for discernment to know your New Wine and your old wineskin as the decision you make will determine the kind of result you get.

Will you put New Wine in old wineskin? Do you have New Wine? Are you even aware you do? Are you going to keep pouring New Wine in old wineskin and keep recycling the pain and loss that comes from your inability to discern or are you going to let go of your old wineskin?

There's New Wine and a New Wineskin in Jesus Christ for you if you'd like to have one.

Read The Faithfulness of The Holy Spirit if you'd like to know more about Jesus Christ.
Stay blessed.
