Why You Should Give/Share With Others

13 But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again!”

15 So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days. 16 There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah. 1Kgs 17:13-16

In the world's system, giving causes depletion but in God's system, giving brings about multiplication. We see this in the life of Father Abraham, the widow of Zarephath and the woman from Shunem.

Abraham gave Isaac and got many nations.
"Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.” Genesis 22:2

15 Then the angel of the Lord called again to Abraham from heaven. 16 “This is what the Lord says: Because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your son, your only son, I swear by my own name that 17 I will certainly bless you. I will multiply your descendants beyond number, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will conquer the cities of their enemies. 18 And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed—all because you have obeyed me.” Genesis 22:15-16

The widow gave her last meal and got sustenance.
"There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah."
2Kings 17: 16

The woman of Shunem gave shelter to the prophet and got a son.
10 Let’s build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp. Then he will have a place to stay whenever he comes by.”
1Kings 4:9

“Next year at this time you will be holding a son in your arms!” 2Kings 4:16

I too gave something out last week and in return, I got more than I gave out from an unlikely means.

Giving doesn't necessarily have to be of monetary value. You could give out a kind word, a smile, useful information, old belongings, you could give just about anything good away. There are people around you who you can be of help to. Look around your vicinity, search out these people and give to them. Share the love of God to them by giving to or sharing with them. Take a cue from our heavenly Father who gave us His only begotten son Jesus Christ even before we knew Him.

Give to friends, relatives and even strangers. Let others experience God's love through you, allow the Monarch of the universe love through you.

Stay blessed.
