An Opportunity To Fail

Image
Romans 8:28, Ecclesiastes 3:1-10 Photo by Zohre Nemati The first victory you ever won was when your father's sperm fertilised the egg that became you in your mother's womb. You won over all the others. You were successful, you never knew what failure was. Unfortunately, many were born the same day as you but died minutes, hours or days later. Some never even got the chance to breathe—They were stillborn but you my friend beat all the odds. You prevailed. Growing up, you have had some success stories and some failures. For some people, the failures outweigh the success stories and these people may see themselves as being programmed to fail more than they are to succeed thus allowing themselves be drowned in the river of depression and defeat.  What if you start to see failure as an opportunity? What if you start to see failure as something to be grateful for?  I know nobody plans to fail but you know not everything you wish for will come to pass—The only time all yo...

The Safest Place To Complain

Don't trust anyone, not even your best friend, and be careful what you say to the one you love.  Micah 7:5 (CEV) Psalms 55:17-23, Matthew 11:28-30, Job 19:19 Photo by Averie Woodward There are times when you find yourself in situations where you need to unburden the heaviness of your heart. You begin to feel the need to talk to someone.  Someone who would understand you and probably share in your pain and most times you end up talking to your friends and loved ones–Those you think you trust. An example of such situation could be when you want people to know you have a strong bond with your friend but like Peter, they deny you.  They deny you because they don't want to be associated with you because of what they know about you–How it can affect their reputation. They value their reputation more than your friendship with them and they end up taking the easiest way out–They run. As for you, you are left perplexed, struck down and left to bear the pain of the...

New Wine

Image
Matt 9:17, Mark 2:22 Photo nick @chiro In the time of old, wine was stored in wineskins  —  an ancient type of bottle made of leathered animal skin. While the juice from grapes was becoming wine as a result of fermentation, it would make the wineskin swell and stretch. If the wineskins were old, they would burst because they have reached their stretching limit. Jesus in Matt 9:17 (NLT) said, No one puts new wine into old skins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so both are preserved.  In like manner, you try most times in life to fit the things you are so comfortable with into new scenarios you find yourself in.  These comfortable things could be good as well but they don't just fit into the now and the only way it would profit you, is if you actually let them go. Put them where they belong because if you actually force them into your new scenario, what you would g...

When You Cannot Trace God

Image
Ruth 1:1-22, Psalm 88:14, Ruth 4:13-17 Photo by Elijah Hiett No matter how comfortable you are in life a time will come when you really need that higher hand to save and help you. But when you reach out to this higher hand all you feel is, "Nothing".  You are met with silence that is deafening. It seems God is far away in another country.  You think you will never make it out alive because the trouble has overwhelmed you. You have become a write-off and have become a rejected.  You have prayed, cried, hoped, yet, Nothing is the response you get.  You want to give up. In situations like this when you cannot trace God, trust Him. Trusting Him at the place where you are right now puts pressure on His integrity. God says, I will never leave you nor forsake you.  You may not know what He is up to as everything in your life has come to a standstill. Keep your trust in Him. Just the same way a child trusts the father to be able to provide his needs, trust G...
