Neutral Gear

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. James 4:3

Most times we approach life's decisions with a predetermined mindset outside the will of God, and this causes us to become anxious when waiting for the outcome.

Shifting to the Neutral Gear cuts off connection between Self and Your expectations.

According to an article by Aaron Widmar on The News Wheel, he wrote, This is when you put your car in neutral gear: When you want the car to be moved by an outside force rather than its own internal mechanical systems...

A case study of this approach is when I was searching for an image to use in one of my posts, and I already had a picture in mind—A photo with a tree dead on one side and alive on the other. All the ones I found were either paid or licensed.

Meanwhile, I was searching for a free photo with no licence. I got tired of searching and I rested for a while then by the Spirit, I asked, What do we do now? This question was me shifting to the Neutral Gear. Suddenly a thought came from within me and said, Why not search for "Decision making photos instead." And that was it for me! I googled, Decision making photos and the first photo I found just clicked with the post I was about publishing and this was the photo I ended up using. You can find the photo in The Coin Called Life and as you can see, He didn't just give me a tree, He gave me an entire forest with one side alive to the light and the other dead to the light and it even came with roads as a bonus, hallelujah!

What I learned from this experience is to go Neutral to God. Shift to the Neutral Gear before anything else. I learnt to be flexible with my desires.

Let Him know your desires, but then, ask that He purges your desire of self according to Psalms 139:23-24, and help you settle for what He knows is best for you, after all He made you.

Having a predetermined mindset will profit us more when we learn to submit our will to God's will. Our decision making processes become so easy and peaceful.

A predetermined mindset is okay, as even the Bible says, our expectations shall not be cut off; Proverbs 23:18

But our expectations can bring us anxiety when it centers on us alone, and not on what God really wants for us.

God made you, He knows what's best for you. Have expectations, but go neutral and flexible to Him. Let Him in on your expectations, but be willing to adjust or totally let go of your expectations if it hinders His own for you.

With this in mind, I encourage you to make life's decisions by submitting your expectations to God because when you learn to approach life this way, you will get rid of anxiety, disappointments, and heartaches.

There is result when your desires meet God's desires.

Remain expectant in the Lord!
